Dos Lagos Lodge is located in the Coyhaique area of Chile’s XIth Region–also known as Aysen–the heart of Chilean Patagonia. It is a land of myriad islands, craggy peaks, untouched forests, glacial rivers and pristine mountain lakes.
In order to reach Coyhaique you should make travel arrangements to Santiago de Chile, and from there to Balmaceda, Coyhaique airport. Most flights from the USA to Chile depart in the afternoon and evening and arrive at Santiago International Airport early in the morning of the following day. The same applies to flights from Europe. Balmaceda is served by LAN and Sky Airlines and there are at least three flights per day on this route, with LAN offering some non-stop flights from Santiago.
After picking up your luggage at the international airport in Santiago, a short walk takes you to the National Airport where you’ll board your flight to Balmaceda, which takes a little over 2 hours. Here you will be met by Dos Lagos staff for your transfer to the lodge.
Another option is to stay one night in Santiago and take advantage of everything this lovely modern city has to offer.
Weather: one thing is certain about Coyhaique weather: it will change! The area is known for showcasing all seasons in one day. Temperatures can range from 5 to 28ºC (41 to 82 ºF) during the southern summer, so it’s best to bring clothing that will allow you to dress in layers. Rain gear is recommended.
